Pericardial Window

A pericardial window is performed in dogs in which drainage of fluid within the pericardial sac (pericardial effusion) is required, but a sub-total pericardectomy is not needed to effect the same outcome. This technique can be performed quickly and minimally invasively using intercostal thoracoscopy portals avoiding the need for an open thoracotomy approach.
